The St. Thomas the Apostle Learning Support Team manages the caseload of students deemed eligible for special education services per a psychoeducational evaluation.
The team provides both in-class support and pull-out instruction to students in grades K-8. Upon testing, individualized recommendations are shared with both classroom teachers and parents. The team then oversees the execution of needed accommodations within the general education curriculum and classroom setting.
In addition to supporting the learning support caseload, our Instructional Support Team (IST) is our home/school goal-setting team that addresses student needs related to academics, behavior, and/or social-emotional learning. When students are referred to IST, the team meets to brainstorm strategies and draft a plan of support.
The learning support team works in conjunction with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) personnel in a collaborative effort to meet the needs of our exceptional learners.
